Elder Kennedy's Mission Scripture

Elder Kennedy's Mission Scripture:

Omni 1: 26

"And now, my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation, and the power of his redemption. Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth ye will be saved."

Vitória de Santo Antão (inland)

Guess what?

So I was just transferred. Now I am in a new awesome area with a new and awesome companion. It was super sad leaving behind my beloved branch of Coqueiral, but bright things are in store for me here in Vitória. My companion is Elder Ribeiro from São Paulo. He arrived in the mission field with me and I’ve known him for a while. Pense num missionario bom! We are here to baptize baby! Só alegria, só água! I’m still in the same zone but different district even though my area is like 1.5 hours from the stake center. Anyway, I just got here like a couple hours ago because yesterday night we slept in Coqueiral and went to our District meeting today. Then arrived in Vitoria agora. Anyway, I’m super excited to be here and ready to work até o pó!

Hey! If I was a Sister missionary I’d already be home by now......legal hahaha. Time is totally out of whack! That is how fast it’s going. Winter here is on its way. It’s starting to rain a lot more and it’s wanting to stay instead of blow away. I am thankful to be here on the mission and see people’s lives change for the better! I’m so grateful for the wonderful loving people that I have met, taught, learned from, and befriended.

Much love and happiness.

Feliz Páscoa

Oi family!

Easter was super! We went to church, I gave the lesson in Principles of the Gospel, and for the second week in a row I played piano for Sacrament meeting, kkkkk, yeah they are really desperate to ask me to play piano! Anyway, after that we had a yummy lunch with an awesome family and went to work.
Thanks so much for sending me a birthday package! Bummer about no Beef Jerky.

Happy Birthday Renee! 26 years old this Saturday! That's like old hahah. Nah, but it is golden!
Awesome Joe's mom is coming to town. She will for sure love San Diego.

Parabens! Love you all to death.

Thanks for being the best people ever!
V's sois a luz do mundo!

Love,
Elder Kennedy

A day late but not a dollar short

Hey, so yesterday the internet cafe was closed due to power outages. So we got the permission to write a little something today (Tuesday).

Well the mission is going great. We are having some success finding new people to teach and soaking up this sun. Some crazy things have happened in our branch, but i'll have to explain it all when I get back. I love the members here so much! I totally feel like they are family. We are teaching this man named Mark hahaha (kinda) his name is Marcus and he is digging our message but has a lot of preconceito/things he has heard about our Church. But he is learning and praying so... #winning. I feel like this is my last transfer here in Coqueiral so i'm going all out! Making contacts with people is just the best. Sometimes it's super funny and sometimes it's sad how ignorant people can be. "You guys are Evangelists eh?" "No, they belong to the church of Joseph Smith!" "They drink blood and worship Satan and kill babies"......o negócio tá sério. But anyway, I love taking away peoples doubts and inviting them to learn more about Christ and His church.

Glad to hear that you guys are well and that Mom is getting over her cough. I am thankful to be on my mission and serving the Lord. Anyway, I hope you guys continue being blessed and enjoy every minute of living in Paradise. Brasil /Pernambuco would be paradise but there is too much trash everywhere.
Tchau tchau
Abraço,
Elder Kennedy

P.S. Go Padres! Totally going to make it to the World Series because the Chargers blew their chance for glory. S.D. has to rep something one of these days.

Conference is real life!

Wow! What a fantastic General Conference we just had.!! Nota 10!
It feels so good to be re-energized and to be motivated to live and teach the gospel of Christ!

I am so thankful I got to see every session except the R.S. broadcast last week. But this Conference was soo good! I loved every talk so much! There was a gringo room but I watched basically the whole conference in Portuguese. Elder W. Christopher Waddell gave a really nice prayer ;) Sacerdócio (Priesthood session) was so epic. President Monson is truly a prophet of God! I invite any and all of you who were not able to watch it, whether you are member's in this church or not to go to lds.org and watch it.

Wow, I heard about the earthquakes in Chile. Que doideira! Glad to hear that all the missionaries are são e salvo. This week was relatively calm and our teaching habits haven't changed too much. It's the same old knocking doors and chatting away with people. Our apartment that has never been without water ran out this week!! oxe! Que raiva! The electric cable that connected the water pump burned out, or something like that. So my companion and I didn't have water for thee days. Don't worry, we took a shower after the first 2 days. We stayed friday night in Areias, the apartment of another companionship.

Anyway hope Mom gets better, that's a real bummer coughs really stink! I am thankful I haven't been sick for like 6 months! Happy birthday Dad! Sorry I couldn't email you on your b-day.
Love you all and if you guys get the chance, read 2nd Nephi 9, in the Book of Mormon. It's so great!

abração,
Elder Kennedy

General Conference coming up.

Oí . So yeah, this week was pretty crazy. We did tons of contacts and met some really nice people. We met a lot of alcoholics, some crazy people, some homosexuals, assembleians, and a couple elect families. We also did another family home evening that went really well! About 70% of the branch was there and we (elders) got two references that night. Sick!! Anyway, doin work and staying dry. It’s been a bit rainy for the season but not too bad. Josefa is doing fine. She was a bit sick with a cold but Sunday she got confirmed a member. Totally excited for General Conference this week! I hope that we can all fit in the Stake Center, because we had a problem two weeks ago for Stake Conference.

I hope all is well with everyone. I’m sorry to hear about Joe’s granny passing away. Glad you got CC back. Renee- I’m sorry you’re sick. I’m sure your team will kill the Ragnar. That’s a sick race going from L.A to S.D.

Love,

Elder E. Kennedy
