Elder Kennedy's Mission Scripture

Elder Kennedy's Mission Scripture:

Omni 1: 26

"And now, my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation, and the power of his redemption. Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth ye will be saved."

Happy Autumn!

Happy Autumn everybody!
It is pouring something nasty in these parts! It has ben raining everyday for several hours this past week. And will probably continue to do so for a while. Flooding is starting to be a problem. This morning my comp and I were walking around in normal clothes and flip flops trying to find an open barber shop. A lot of the streets are totally full of water, and it's impossible to cross by foot without having water rush up to our knees. Cockroaches were everywhere trying to escape their watery doom. Oh yeah, we past through some rushing gutter water with a few dead rats, I think they drowned. Its been a wet and dirty week to say the least. Anyway happy as ever in Ponte. Transfers are coming up next week so we will see what happens.

Whoah Nate Dirkmaat going to Chile, Santiago North, insane.!!!!!!! Stoked, haha. This past week has been really good, a few disappointments but thats life. We marked the baptism for a moça (young woman) named Tamires. She is really cool and is Caio's friend. Sunday a man walked into the church and wanted to know more. He stayed all through sacrament meeting and we are going to teach him hopefully this week. Today I get to go to Recife because my comp needs to pick up his patriarchal blessing. I have been making alot of Cuscuz lately, pretty much mastered it. mmmMMM tastes soo good! We cook it like everyday.

So the move is going to happen for sure on wednesday! There were a few delays with the contract and a couple quick fixes in the house. This week we are really gonna crank out the lessons and get some more people ready for baptism!

abraço

Starting to Rain

Life is good in Ponte, starting to get a bit more rain.

That’s way sick Shelly Harris got called to serve in the Omaha, Nebraska mission!! Wooohoo. She wrote me a little while back asking what the mission was like and stuff, so I am way stoked for her!

Granny sent me a wonderful birthday package! I am so excited to be learning the harmonica/mouth harp. Hopefully I will be able to play something on it by Mothers Day. My companion missionary really likes the battleship game she sent. He usually beats me, haha. Its all right though because I wake him up in the morning by practicing the harp.

Happy Birthday this week Renee. Woah 25. Insane! Hahaha glad you’re enjoying the beach and life in SD. Hope you guys can move into a new place soon. I am also waiting to move as well and I’m getting a little anxious. Patience is the hardest virtue to learn.

That’s sick you guys are officially back in the best ward in the world! How is everyone? I bet the new Stake Presidency is awesome. I’m glad you liked the pics. I have more but I forgot which ones I sent and which ones I didn’t send. So for mothers day, I will be able to Skype you all. So I will probably need some info, like when Ian will call/skype you all. I think his time zone is closer to California's. So maybe he’ll be first?

abraço,
Elder Kennedy (the older)

P.S. Was there also a factory explosion in Texas?? I heard about the Boston ordeal but then heard about maybe another bomb or something.

Wooohooo, so sick Joe graduated and you all made it back to SD safe and sound! That’s sweet Joe got to see his mom. I bet he was super stoked and surprised.

I officially am 5 months into the mission!!!!!!! This past week was pretty slow and uneventful. My comp caught a virus and he has been sick since Tuesday. Yesterday and today he was starting to feel better. This week we are going to work Para Caramba! I believe we are also moving out of our house this week into a nice tranquil apartment that always has running water.

Sunday was Stake Conference and President and Sister Lanius gave 2 awesome talks about missionary work. It was like an extension of general conference.

You asked me to tell you what kinds of things I want you to send well... sunflower seeds- I’m all out. Aunt Jeanine sent me a sick package and it had sunflower seeds. Now I’m all out. Sunflower seeds don’t exist here, only for birds. My comp thought it was the weirdest thing when he first saw me eating them hahaha now he likes them too. I also want old spice deodorant. The deodorant here is mostly spray (which I have) and they have a weird stupid version of the under arm deodorant that I don’t like to use, so I’m down to my last stick of American legit Old Spice Deodorant. Oh yeah Ian will probably definitely want sunflower seeds sent his way whenever you guys send him stuff. He was an addict before the mission. Reeses are always good. If possible a bottle of ranch dressing. Ranch also doesn’t exist here. But not a big deal if you don’t send it.

Everything is good and I’m not in real need of anything, just more baptisms. Pray for Ruan please he is a young man that we have been teaching for a while and all he needs is the desire to be baptized. I think he knows the gospel is true he just always says "not right now" when we challenge him to be baptized. We marked his baptism anyway for the end of this month, so we will see what happens. Renee, mom and Joe- Please send your new address of where you are living in La Costa.

Tchau, cant wait to talk/ see you all in a month
beijos,
Elder Kennedy
