Elder Kennedy's Mission Scripture

Elder Kennedy's Mission Scripture:

Omni 1: 26

"And now, my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation, and the power of his redemption. Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth ye will be saved."

Glad my letters are making it to the states

Hey Family!

Right now i'm at the Recife temple. My p-day was switched this week because it's our zone's Temple day. Anyway this week was chill. We are working hard with the members and visiting some great less-active families. My companion and I have made awesome friends with the youth and set up activities during the week for them to bring friends to the church building to have a good time while learning about the gospel.

My companion is trunky but we make each other work super hard and we are great pals. I think i'll be heading home the 27th of October, but still have to call the secretary about my flight itinerary. But that's not important. My comp and I have been working in the ghetto knocking doors and finding some interesting people and a couple families that really have potential. The hardest part is getting them to walk up the biggest hill in the world to go to church.

Thanks for all of your support! I love you!

Hello Family!

Happy Birthday Granny (on the 19th). Renee and Joe- that's awesome you guys got to do all that fun traveling. I can't wait to see you guys. Don't worry about my trunky-ness, I am working like a madman.

This week was super awesome! We had Stake Conference and I got to see a ton of members from wards that I passed in. I felt like the most loved Elder in the world walking in and greeting everyone that I knew because I had served in 2 branches and 1 ward in this Stake. Elder Aidaikatis from the Seventy spoke and it was such a moving talk. The congregation filled up so much that they asked some Elders to sit behind the podium next to Elder Aidaikatis. So sick!!

Anyway we are teaching some really awesome investigators. But we do have the occasional lazy investigators as well. We did a fast with Ashley so that her mom would let her be baptized as well as Patricia having a means to get money for her marriage. I am sure in the near future they will be able to be baptized and change their lives for the better.

Dang, so last week my comp and I were walking ... (sad story) and we looked to our right and a car hit a dog. It was bleeding so much from his head there was seriously a river and I was like what can I do for this lady? She said that the dog didn't have an owner or anything (obviously) and I was like "can I call someone or do something?" And she said it'd be good to take him out of the street because there were cars and motorcycles coming. So I picked up this dying bleeding dog and carried him to the sidewalk and he died right when I set him down. I don't think there is any significance to this event other than it being a sad story.

Also, the Ex-Pernambuco Governor and runner-up for President died in a plane crash as well. Pernambucanos were pretty sad this past week.

Hope you all are well and safe. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ because it is the truest and most important thing we have in this life.

Love Elder Kennedy

P.S. I guess the mission here sends my return info like my last transfer/ last 4-6 weeks of my mission. They had been sending it earlier to missionaries because of the world cup but now it's back to normal so they will let me know probably in like 2 weeks.

P.P.S Joe and Renee- send a pic of the "inheritance," thats gotta be the coolest!

P.P.P.S Random question. Have any of you seen/ kept my white and blue Fifa soccer ball?

Every companionship is really a trio.

Hey!

Yeah, so my companion is cool. He is a hard worker  and not making me too trunky. We are kicking butt here in our ward and working hard to get those referrals and investigators to teach. Right now we compete/motivate each other to make contacts in the street. We have a good time. We have explored a lot of new parts of our area and it's the coolest feeling to just trust the spirit and let him guide you to a certain house. A companionship is always a trio- you, your companion and the senior companion (the spirit).

One day we were walking and found some men talking in the street. One of them had a bamboo fishing pole, another had a broken foot in a cast, and another with his pitbull. We just walked up and started talking with them and started getting to know them. We asked if there was a place nearby to fish and they pointed outward. And after an hour of chitchat and talking about the gospel they all got super interested in the church and told us they would like to visit sometime. I hope the lord is preparing them and touches their hearts. I think the mission is so cool because our job is to open our mouths for 2 years and really help someone become happier everyday.

Much Love,

Elder Kennedy

Las two tranfers

Hey family!

Yes today was transfer day. Yes, I am in Curado still. Yes, I am going to kill again, (third time on the mission). My new companion is Elder Rock from Grand Junction Colorado. Dang it! I got a gringo haha! As if people didn't already stare at us now they do even more. I am doing well here in the area/ward, I love the members here. We are going to have tons of success in this transfer, I can just feel it. Sunday it was all about sparking the members and getting them involved with missionary work. We are really going to focus on re-activating member families and completing families with baptisms. I had a bunch of meetings with ward leaders and we have an exciting plan to go out with the family home teachers and getting people excited about church.

I love this work and I love this gospel. I know that Christ lives and that He is our perfect example. (Its not worth it to live dreaming and forget to live!)
Tchau grande abraço,

Elder Kennedy
